free will vs determinism

I would like to start a discussion on the question of will free will solve our societies problems. It would appear its not working all that well when one looks at all the problems we are dealing with. The god trip keeps a lot of it going. The old saying "if you keep doing the same thing, and expecting different results:" is one definition of insanity. We have proof of this all around us.

I"m a retired dog trainer, behavior therapist, living in the country with my two dogs. I'm 5'9'' 155pds, love learning anything new, dedicated atheist, really enjoy science, One of my favorite behaviors is a enjoyable conversation with intelligent people.
