Instant Gratification

I was driving home from my daughter's house on Wednesday night and at Fourth and Menaul I stopped at a red light and over heard the people talking in the van next to me. "Do you take your cell phone with you when you use the bathroom?" one person said. The other answered, " I used to," she said. "You know it will al… Continue

Sit. Stay.

I posted this for a short time last weekend and then pulled it because I wanted to think about it for a while before posting again. There have been quite a few blogs and discussions about Albuquerque's future and growth, each one prompting me to wonder if I feel good or bad about it. It's a conflict in my head.

I moved here in March, 31 years ago. I was very disappointed with the lack of green, the lack of (what i knew as) ethnic food, the sand that blew in my face, the lack of theater, music,… Continue

My Profile Picture

Time to change my picture again. I notice many people have had the same profile picture for as long as I've been around, which isn't that long really, but it seems they don't change. Quite a few DCFers change frequently. I guess I am falling into the latter category for a few reasons.

Do I have and aviary in my yard, or a bird cage? Doesn't matter what you call it. Do I have an apiary, or bee hives? Again, it doesn't matter. Call it what you will. Last meeting of the Albuquerque bee group, we were told about the proposed state ...

He is a bit to young to grasp that yet. I also have a problem with that misuse. We all know it is "thars", for "there are". Chuckle. I have a long list of things I see in advertising, (my past life) that drive me crazy, such as your used for you'...

That was wonderful. I'm not from 'round here either. My back east family remind me that I speak differently now, and that my everyday vocabulary has become very Hispanic. I didn't see it happening. But it did. I am glad.

Hey, Sarah. Ignore my email. It was written before I realized that the "blue and green" lady on DCF was the same real color person I had been talking to last night. DUH! I will however, follow up with some other info for you later.

Saw your comment on a blog post about the NM GRT website. I planned to use it but when I saw it, got cold feet and wrote out a check to send snail mail. Is the website safe to use?

Thanks Sarah, I just sent my return in but I will get in touch next time. Now that we're friends I think you can email me your phone off the public record or maybe I can contact you at Adobe Nido via the phone on your site?

Hey,
I just saw that you have someone looking for a house downtown-
We live in Martineztown noth side of Downtown The house across the stree from us is for sale. We are a cul-de-sac with great neighbors, the house are small but well designed , the same people who did the barelas homes that BB cites.
Here is a description and the link
Built in 2005
1290 square feet
Listed at: $199,990.00
Look at this Downtown area. Minutes away from downtown. A house under 5 years old minutes from downtown. That's impossible. Here it is! This is a open, bright and light 2 story home at the end of a culdesac that has 9' ceilings, Large windows, U shaped kitchen with pantry, 3/4 bath down stairs , 1 full bath upstairs, all bedrooms are upstairs, nice size lot with nice size backyard, 1 car garage and 2 car driveway. Why buy a loft when you can own a home? This is a must see. Call James to see this home.

gottcha! It's all I can do to keep up with my own identity. ( & I suppose we all have lots of them. Plus, I have embarrassed my family so much that they get their feelings hurt when I don't. They are immune to my antics & opinions.
You know the wierdo's I am refering to.

Best and Luck on the tax bill there. I'll write my Senator & Rep. on it, for whatever that's worth: I'm unconvinced that they actually listen or care about constituency! My state rep seems like she pays attention, actually; last time wrote her about something she actually wrote me a genuine note back! Wild.

I'm interested in this in particular, because I'm looking to become a concierge in the next couple of years! After 10 years working in the arts, I'm giving up and I want to go into Hospitality. Being a hotel concierge is kind of a dream job of mine since I was a kid (is that odd?), and I think I'm going to try for it. Do you think I might pick your brain a little bit?

Gayle Chasey is our rep in Santa Fe. Turns out she shops at the store where my partner works and he thinks she's a neat person.

When I get my thoughts a little more together, I might just hit you up for some snap reactions to some of my ideas & plans. I'm almost 34, so I feel like if I'm going to make a career shift, maybe this had better be the one that sticks! Cheers.
