Where I Live:
Albuquerque, NM
About Me:
I've been in Albuquerque since 2004 and I freakin' love it. I have an art studio in my spare room and when I'm not there painting I'm lurking around thrift stores looking for my next vintage album cover or dress pattern to take inspiration from.

Thrifty ABQ: Goodwill to All

Posted on November 13, 2014 at 10:30am 3 Comments

Albuquerque has seven Goodwill stores including the Clearance Corner and the GoodBuys 99¢ Store that carries clothing for, you guessed it, 99¢.

Goodwill is the granddaddy of all thrift stores in my life. I say granddaddy because it is the first thrift store that…

Thrifty ABQ: More Than Thrift Stores

Posted on November 6, 2014 at 10:30am 7 Comments

I recently posted about the thrift stores that I go to most often. While the trek down Menaul is my most well-worn route, I do have a couple of other areas that I knock around in. One of these areas encompasses the Salvation Army on…

Detail of Photo by flickr user C x 2

I spend a good amount of time at thrift stores. Sometimes I have an art project that propels me to look for materials. Sometimes I want to find a gem of a piece of clothing and I’m willing to spend a while sorting through…

NM Tea Company now serving tea and food

Posted on August 8, 2009 at 8:30pm 5 Comments

I love the New Mexico Tea Company for many things; for its fabulous selection of tea and tea accessories, for its knowledgeable owner David Edwards (I haven't met his business partner but I'm sure she knows her stuff, too), and for the smell when I walk through the door. The smell was always a promise of things to come… Continue

Two a Day: end of an era...for now

Posted on July 31, 2009 at 5:32pm 5 Comments

I started my Two a Day project on June 5 so it hasn't been quite two months. I've crossed a lot of items off of my To Do List in that time and I don't think I would have accomplished so much if I didn't have the structure and support of this blog and its commenters to keep me motivated.

This sounds like a farewell post and it is, sort of. I have a new job… Continue

Thank you for welcoming me Spring!! I once know someone named Autumn.(Lol: ) Off Center featured my self portrait in their calender and I hope to sell the original in the gallery. I've been told that you really have to learn how promote yourself if you wanna make it in the art world. From your own experience you think that's true? I think the business is too competitive and that real artists are just lovers of forms and beauty. It least thats the way I am.

yay! thanks for responding spring! the only lotteria peices I have left are the sun and moon, and the skull...the skull is tiny, and the sun and moon are like six by six inches i think? I am pretty proud of the sun and moon, the sun particularly, and they together might be a fair trade for on of your smaller peices if you liked them up close. we are having an art opening for our small gallery (my fiance and I) on August 7th here at the house...you are welcome to come and bring your husband. check out my gallery website for details if you want http://www.theaviaryartsabq.com! would love to have you come by!
