I'm so excited to be featuring my first Podcast today! I had so much fun interviewing Albuquerque couture bridal designer, Teresa Romero. After having been sick and on bed rest, the first thing I did when I got my voice back was interview Teresa. This is one of my favorite posts yet and I am so happy to be helping to promote some of Albuquerque's finest talent! Check it out: …

Sandy & Vince are getting married in Albuquerque this October. We had fun featuring some photos of their engagement shoot with Vince dressed in his Fireman's uniform! Check it out:
Adelita said… Also, horizontal pictures work much better!
Adelita said… Susana, can you post your latest to the Forum? I think under announcements would be best. Thanks! (btw, I've heard Raven sing with Darin Goldston!)
ver go to the Downtown Growers Market and stand in line for some delicious basil lemonade and pie? If so, you might have met Raven, of Black Bird Pies. She's been a staple at the Downtown Growers Market and other growers markets around town since I can't remember when! Raven, or "Raven, The Pie Lady" as my children call her, is battling breast cancer. I hadn't seen her in a while, but ran into her last night at the wedding of Felix of Felix y Los Gatos. It was so great getting to talk to her outside of the hustle and bustle of the growers market. Raven is a sweet, sweet soul, and has on more than one occasion given my thirsty little monkeys a cup or two of her delicious watermelon water and even a little pie. I was so sad to hear of her battle with breast cancer, but she is a trooper and I believe that just as she has battled and won to have more growers markets around town, so too will she fight to win this battle against breast cancer.
Rudy Boy's Blues & Brews in conjunction with the New Mexico Blues Society will be hosting a benefit for Raven this Sunday, April 21 at Malarky's from 3-7pm. On a side note, Raven and I used to trade our backyard grown apricots for pies. If you might like to trade with her as well give her a call. I'm sure she'd love to hear from you! https://www.facebook.com/Blackbirdpies
Adelita said… And to be clear...linking to another blog is not what we are looking for! :)
Adelita said… Yes. We are looking for interesting stories written specifically for Duke City Fix. Small vignettes of what it's like to live here and what makes Albuquerque so interesting. See Johnny Mango's stories for an idea of what we are looking for - well-written, thoughtful and with nice photos and hyperlinks. If you need help, please don't hesitate to ask me! I was a regular "story-writer" for many years here on DCF. I've written about my neighborhood, my family's history here, and just anything that shows how quirky our city is. If you write something, one of the moderators will read it, approve it and then decide if it gets featured.
Start writing! We need great stories! Here's an example of my first story for DCF.
Susana of NMWeddingBlog.com said… Thank you Adelita. I am featuring an Albuquerque designer on my blog and linking to it here. Are you saying that instead of doing that, I should just blog about it here and not link up over there?
Thanks for the clarification!
-Susana
Adelita said… Hi Susana of NMWeddingBlog.com. Just wanted to make sure you have read our moderation policy, especially the section on how to get featured. Linking to another blog won't get you featured on the main page, but if you write a thoughtful piece about Albuquerque, or weddings in Albuquerque, or a fashion designer in Albuquerque...you get the drift...then you will more likely get your story featured. Just thought I'd help you out! Adelita - moderator
