Sunday Poet: Janet Ruth

Posted on August 27, 2017 at 9:00am 0 Comments

Well, this post is a bit late; it's a last but not least as I sit in a beautiful valley in Colorado; it's timely as we know all things change, even change itself. Jon and I aren't sure of what if anything will happen with the archives of the Ditchrider collected  over these abundant and tumultuous years. It…

Sunday Poetry Double Feature: Sylvia Ramos and Rich Vargas

Posted on August 20, 2017 at 7:30am 0 Comments

A Double Feature:  Because the Fix is moving over to Facebook at the end of this month, last I heard, and I have three poets in the chute, I am giving readers a two-fer today.…

Sunday Poems: Faith Kaltenbach

Faith Kaltenbach  is a new voice in the neighborhood for me. She calls herself a student poet, but I'd say she's earned life credits.  Thank you, Faith!  Just in the knick of time to be among the last of years' worth of Sunday Poets. The Fix owners have given their notice.  At best I will publish…

Megan Baldrige: A New Mexican Considers Borders

The Sunday Poet: Havva Houshmand

Posted on July 30, 2017 at 11:00am 0 Comments

I met Havva Houshmand when I started teaching at CNM in 2003. She was a goddess, gorgeous, elegant, dark wavy hair and a sweet Middle Eastern accent. There were always those who flocked around her to hear her take, her voice, her humor. Years later I traved to Zacatecas, Zacarteca, in Mexico with a handful of…

Was it you who posted the Frida and Diego poem? Stunning! I sent copies to a dozen friends. In fact that poem , which I read on Jon Knudson's blog, was a major reason I tracked down Duke City. The other reason is that if I ever move back to the States, it would be to live in or around Albuquerque.

Thanks for your response to my post about Harrison Ridley. Don't know if you're from Philly and knew of him but, well, he was a beautiful soul.
