I don't know the answer to that one, but if I listen to many of the folks around me, we have a great health care system - no reforms are needed.

Funny story. And thanks for sharing the personal. I, for one, did not know much about what life is like with MS. Keep writing!

Fellow NM Photographer!
Just a quick note to invite you to Karl Koenig's opening at the Inpost Art Space (at the Outpost Performance Space, 210 Yale SE) this coming Friday evening, 5-8. Karl is a talented photographer who makes images mostly of nature and architecture, the world round. The show will focus on his large format gumoil photographs, a process that he pioneered himself about 20 years ago. The prints are hand pigmented, resulting in amazingly vibrant photographs with a wondrous, almost catastrophic fairy tale quality. I find them highly affecting and unique.

My fellow curator Rob Thalmann and I plan to focus heavily on local photography during our 2 year term there at the Outpost, and this is just the tip of the iceberg for us. Maybe we could even do a DCF photographer's group show there?

Come see the show on the 5th!

Hey Your Sharona - Read your post on censorship and became interested in checking out your new place. The link above for the June 6 event, however, is an invite only link. Maybe there's something more accessible I can check out? I assume that this will be at Momma's Minerals...

Why I Like Socialized Medicine

I have had personal real-life experience with it, that’s why.

I spent a summer in Italy. I got very sick. Twice. So I’ve got two stories.

The first time I went to the emergency room in Florence on a Saturday afternoon. There was nobody in the waiting area.

Let me say that again. It was a Saturday afternoon in summer, in a tourist-packed city in Europe, and there was nobody in the emergency room. Yeah, I thought it was curious.

I was greeted warmly and taken to an exam room immediately. A nur… Continue

Censored by Artists!

I recently moved to a great new studio space on Central. I have my own locking room with three big windows, carpet, acoustical ceiling, hi-speed internet, and the space has a shared conference room, kitchenette, lobby and restrooms. I love it. Most of the dozen other artists are there during the day, so when I drag in after work, I often have the place to myself. It's a great place to work on my photography and painting.

This past week a weird thing happened.

One of the photographers was asked… Continue

100% un-natural chicken

This is my evil enemy right now: injected chicken. I know, there are lots of reasons not to eat chicken anyway. But let's just suppose I want some dang chicken. Plain old fashioned chicken. The kind that used to live on farms with barns and sunshine and goats and green grass and chicken wire.

Super-capitalist corporation Tyson has introduced "Natural Chicken" to the supermarkets. You can get it at most grocery stores. It is chicken that is 'minimally processed', has 'no added hormones or st… Continue
