About Me:
A performance poet since 2006, Zachary Kluckman was a member of the 2012 Albuquerque National Poetry Slam Team, a Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominee, and recipient of the Red Mountain Press Poetry Prize. His work appears in print in numerous global publications from the New York Quarterly and Cutthroat to Contemporary Literature: India and Bottom of the World as well as many contemporary anthologies. His book, “Earthships: A New Mecca Poetry Collection” was a finalist in the 2008 New Mexico Book Awards. With spoken word tracks featured on over 500 radio stations worldwide, Kluckman has achieved a rare level of success in the modern music scene. Kluckman has served on the editorial staff of several publications, including the Pedestal Magazine, as well as The Slam National Newsletter, The Journal of Truth and Consequence and Artistica. He has shared the stage with many of the nation’s top performance poets, appearing on notorious stages nation-wide. Kluckman has been recognized for making world history with two unique events, as creator of the world’s only Slam Poet Laureate Program and as an organizer for the 100 Thousand Poets for Change program, the largest poetry reading in history, and a powerful movement for positive change in the world. As an activist, Kluckman is one of the Coordinators for the Albuquerque Center for Peace and Justice, as well as a dedicated youth advocate who has founded numerous programs to better the lives of youth in the community using poetry as a transformative tool. Kluckman lives in New Mexico where he is a single father to three sons and one daughter.

Day 1 of the world's only Slam Poet Laureate Program

It's almost here. After one year of planning, meetings, fund-raising in a less than prime economy, promotions, meetings, talent scouting, and meetings....the world's first Slam Poet Laureate program is preparing to take off. And what better place than right here in the 505?
