Slam of Enchantment Feat. Gina Marselle at Tortuga Gallery

January 19, 2015 from 7pm to 9pm
The weekend goes so fast, and will be over in a blink, BUT the good stuff keeps coming! This Monday, we have Gina Marselle herself rocking new work (and bringing photo postcards I believe)...PLUS an open mic, the first of our last 3 qualifying slams for the season, plus the warmeat hugs weat of the sun - and all of it is potluck style, so bring a snack or favorite beverage and come kick Monday in the nalgas with us!…See More

Speak Easy Tangents Writing Workshop

In a casual, encouraging environment, we will explore the writing process, practice prompts to inspire stagnant writers…See More

Albuquerque Poet Wins National Poetry Award?

Well, maybe. With your support :) I have been nominated for 2 National Poetry Awards (kind of the Grammy's for poets). I'm one of only 4 poets from the nation in each of the categories, and the only New Mexico poet in the running, so I am asking you to consider voting for me for Slam Artist of the Year and Slam Organizer of the Year, especially if you've been to any of the events I host. I feel a little self-conscious asking for votes this way, but it would be an honor to represent the Duke…See More

Whistling Skin anthology seeks submissions

I am very excited to announce an open call for submissions for an anthology of writing that I have been wanting to bring to life for almost a decade now! Tentatively titled Whistling Skin, this collection seeks to explore a subject often overheard but rarely explored in full – Poetry Saved My Life.

Day 1 of the world's only Slam Poet Laureate Program

Posted on May 18, 2009 at 7:29pm 4 Comments

It's almost here. After one year of planning, meetings, fund-raising in a less than prime economy, promotions, meetings, talent scouting, and meetings....the world's first Slam Poet Laureate program is preparing to take off. And what better place than right here in the 505?

After Albuquerque hosted the world's largest national poetry slam in 2005, carrying away the titel in the process, it seems only right that we should again be the torch-bearers and take the next progressive step in… Continue
