2 for 1 Eyeglass-Buying Joy

It doesn't help that under the best circumstances, I still hate the whole process of buying eye glasses. First comes the dilated eyes for a 'prescription' which is only valid for a year. Then comes the 2 for 1 sales where you go in and find that the only glasses for the cheapo price really and truly suck. No really, the $38.00 glasses wouldn't suit a mummified monkey.

Oh yeah, don't forget to add in the SCRATCH resistant lenses, only $29.00 on the first pair; $19.00 more for that 'free'… Continue

Giancarlo Esposito

My wife, Debra Landau, shares this note:

I've never been much into the whole celebrity sightings/gossip thing, but then I live in Albuquerque. But what's a girl to do when the celebrity encounters her? OK, I was sitting in Flying Star, reading the Journal and, as usual, wondering why I was reading the Journal, when I heard, "Excuse me ..." And there before mine eyes did appear the handsome and talented actor, Giancarlo EspositoContinue

Paul Kantner in Albuquerque

All the news about Woodstock has taken me back over the weekend.
About as close as I will ever get to seeing the Jefferson Airplane et al is taking a guitar class with Jorma Kaukonen. Or, although Stella Blue has gone beaucoups francaise thinking back to '03 when Paul Kantner came to Albuquerque. It was a fun night for the audience.

A Venus Moon Sunrise

JUST-in from SpaceWeather.com:->MONDAY MORNING SKY SHOW: Set your alarm for dawn. On Monday morning, Aug. 17th, Venus and the crescent Moon will gather beautifully close together in the eastern sky. For many observers in North America, the International Space Station (ISS) will make an appearance, too. It's a fantastic way to begin the day.

Jeff - you actually hosted poetry readings a few years back at your South Valley venue, IF i am remembering correctly? My name's Cirrelda and I have an email listing of poetry events I email out each month called thin pipes and you used to send me events to post. Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

It's funny, really. I am not known as Skippy in the "real world". My hubby and I sometimes play satellite trivia. I was envious of him because he had a really great screen name for the games, so I tried to think of something that was the opposite of him and extremely uncool. Alas, Skippy came to mind. The only Skips that I have met have been real nerds.
I have caught Sex and the City just a couple of times. What is the schipperke reference? Is that your website?

Glad you've seen Rio de Lagrimas! It's such an important subject and I think everyone needs to see it. Maybe we'll see you next time. Have a great weekend.

Road Tripper is a great group idea? Who's your daddy!!! Don't thank me. Road Trippin' is in my DNA. It's as normal as breathing. Others dream of sitting at some cafe in Europe sipping a latte and people watching.......... I dream of a full tank of gas, a valid driver's license and the open road. Nothing is better than that to me.

I hope you will hit the road and write about it for the rest of us.

I agree. I really need to go and read some Hunter S. I've only read snippets of his work, but I liked definitely liked it.
