I think you're right, Lee. I'm just going to wait and see for right now. It just doesn't make sense to tear out drywall when I may just find a crack in the foundation with a very pesky plant in it. (I can't see anything anywhere that hints of wate...

Maybe between now and xmas you could grow some poinsettia's under there ? Boy... this is weird.. but I would have to to look really really hard for some evidence of leaking water (well...err... aside from the shrubbery) before I started tearing o...

Surprise! It just got freakier! I don't have a crawl space; my house is indeed built on a slab. Thanks for your advice, Jeff. I have a newer handyman I've worked with who I like really well, and I know him from a professional connection, which mak...

it'll be even freakier if you have a slab on grade. time to get in the crawlspace and find the leak and get another handyman. 14 months is kinda long to warranty handyman-type repairs, however you might want to mention that public agencies (and s...

Jewelry making 101

Have you ever wanted to make jewelry for yourself or someone special? I'm teaching a jewelry making class starting in April--so you have until March 24 to sign up. In this class, students will learn how to create sterling silver necklaces, bracelets and pierced earrings that you'll be able to wear home on Day 1. Some basic techniques to be covered are making loops and coils, using a jig, attaching hardware, and oxidizing and texturizing silver. Using silver chain, wire, beads and hardware, stude… Continue

Civic Cinema?

I was trying to get online info. about the Summer series films on Civic Plaza (Civic Cinema?) earlier today, with no avail. The one website that seemed to have some basic info. gave me the message that the website was at capacity with visitors at that time. I am perplexed as to why this event isn't publicized more. Last year I went to 4 of the 5 free films on Civic Plaza--and on the first film night, there were literally about 30 people who showed up to watch, while hundreds of chairs sat empty.… Continue

Allergies Aplenty

Tis the season to be sneezing. And itching. Last year around this time, I started going to an acupuncturist for my allergies. It seemed to help. This year, I'm feeling too broke to see Dr. Hao so I'm taking Benadryl....and sleeping like a baby. A coworker and friend of mine swears that tumeric, in powder form, mixed with ghee and water really does the trick. I'm wondering about bee pollen as well. If you have any advice to share about natural, non-chemical, non-costly things that work for your a… Continue

Hey Kiki... a little bit of work, knocked down three walls, redid all the electrical, plumbing, sewer, new service, kitchen, bath, floors.... haven't gotten onto the next phases.. the front yard is...well... tolerable. I got trees in...there were none, so since they take forever to establish I figured start as early as possible.

hmm the music. So in the html script you can designate autostart, manual start, random play, etc... Just use a pre-fab jukebox. there are many available on line. you select the playlist they give you the script.

I hope that helps. -R
