Seeking Burqueños who have done the Bataan Memorial Death March

Posted on October 16, 2010 at 10:30pm 2 Comments

I'm on an info gathering mission about the Bataan Memorial Death March held at White Sands Missile Range. Have you done the march? If so, I'm interested in your overall experiences, whether you were a team or solo, if you ran or walked it, how you trained, etc. At this point, I don't even like to mention that I'm considering doing the march, because I know only what I've read on the official website and… Continue

Yarnbombing in Albuquerque?

Posted on December 6, 2009 at 4:55pm 2 Comments

I recently started knitting. Today I was reading about the history of knitting online and learned about a type of graffiti called yarnbombing. Here's the wikipedia link . I love it 1) b/c the concept is fresh & quirky and 2) b/c it dovetails so nicely with street art which we've been discussing in the media literacy class I'm coteaching at MACCS. Anybody know if there's been any yarnbombing… Continue

Jewelry making 101

Posted on March 11, 2009 at 8:52pm 0 Comments

Have you ever wanted to make jewelry for yourself or someone special? I'm teaching a jewelry making class starting in April--so you have until March 24 to sign up. In this class, students will learn how to create sterling silver necklaces, bracelets and pierced earrings that you'll be able to wear home on Day 1. Some basic techniques to be covered are making loops and coils, using a jig, attaching hardware, and oxidizing and texturizing silver. Using silver chain, wire, beads and hardware,… Continue

Civic Cinema?

Posted on July 5, 2008 at 11:56pm 3 Comments

I was trying to get online info. about the Summer series films on Civic Plaza (Civic Cinema?) earlier today, with no avail. The one website that seemed to have some basic info. gave me the message that the website was at capacity with visitors at that time. I am perplexed as to why this event isn't publicized more. Last year I went to 4 of the 5 free films on Civic Plaza--and on the first film night, there were literally about 30 people who showed up to watch, while hundreds of chairs sat… Continue

Allergies Aplenty

Posted on April 17, 2008 at 9:30pm 11 Comments

Tis the season to be sneezing. And itching. Last year around this time, I started going to an acupuncturist for my allergies. It seemed to help. This year, I'm feeling too broke to see Dr. Hao so I'm taking Benadryl....and sleeping like a baby. A coworker and friend of mine swears that tumeric, in powder form, mixed with ghee and water really does the trick. I'm wondering about bee pollen as well. If you have any advice to share about natural, non-chemical, non-costly things that work for your… Continue

Hey Kiki... a little bit of work, knocked down three walls, redid all the electrical, plumbing, sewer, new service, kitchen, bath, floors.... haven't gotten onto the next phases.. the front yard is...well... tolerable. I got trees in...there were none, so since they take forever to establish I figured start as early as possible.

hmm the music. So in the html script you can designate autostart, manual start, random play, etc... Just use a pre-fab jukebox. there are many available on line. you select the playlist they give you the script.

I hope that helps. -R
