A quirky night of dance, theatre, live music, video, bike-riding and freshly baked cookies in celebration of the Blythe Eden Dance Company's 10th anniversary. Come one, come all. And if you can't come...send someone!

Well, even if the forest ranger was being nice, I think you still should have stopped him and asked him if you could take his wood. Just for the fun of it.

El Paisa on Bridge, west of HCC. $1 tacos, gorditas, etc. Good place to go to try several different styles. Cash only. And it has a nice little patio!

great! I'm out of town a lot during the summer- maybe we could organize one in mid-August or thereabouts? AnneMarie & Jo (and everyone) - lets keep in touch :)

Hey Sol! I would be happy to participate in a book exchange. The more the merrier. I can participate, depending upon when/where the exchange would take place. I am a devotee of paperbackswap.com and will now check out bookins.com (thanks Kelly!)...

REI, not really the best place to meet mountain men. Try Charlies. Its much better for meeting actual men....

El Modelo, hmmmmm love that place. And Barelas is the best place for breakfast in the south valley.

Sol: Tried bookins.com? You list your books, movies, video games, etc. on the site, and when someone wants one, you get an email and a pre-paid postage form to print out. Then you drop your item in the mailbox. You earn points, and then trade them...

Book exchange, awesome idea! Except that it takes me a long time to finish some books. Maybe there could be a monthly time and place, and people either show or they don't?

...but it just don't work on you (Part TWO)

(FYI- Part One "Got my mojo workin'" of this post can be found at the Sol site).

I realized that I've been blogging primarily my success stories. Don't fear - I've had my fair share of failures, too. They're just brief, and don't warrant much conversation. But here SOME of them are, in all their glory.

1) The time I took advice from my readers and tried to find people in places that hold common interest.

I went to Stone Age climbi… Continue

Fearlessness. The antidote to a flocculent life.

(I won't lie- I've been using the word flocculent every chance I get lately. Even when it barely makes sense. Blame M.)

I received an appropriate gift today. A book entitled “The Year of Yes” by Maria Headley. This woman blows my sol out of the water. For an entire year, she goes on a date with everyone – regardless of looks, gender, etc. - who asks her out. I can’t wait to read it. Like me, she does it more out of a need to change her own views than to find a mate (or so I gathered from my 30… Continue

On second thought...

Hello! since my last disgruntled post of the Summer of Like, I fostered a puppy and got it adopted (hooray! hurray!) I went to a modern dance show - wild dancing west, week 2. I danced until I dripped sweat at Burt's Tiki lounge on a Thursday night for the first time. I also went to Sophia's place for breakfast for the first time- yummy yummy blue corn pancakes. I asked out no one. And had a restful week.

Sunday I had a revelation. Without going in… Continue

Summer of Like's Winter of Discontent

Okay DCF- I’m asking for your help…but I’m not sure what the question is exactly.
I am going through the terrible two’s of the summer of like. Friday night, I went out – grudgingly- to Monte Vista Fire Station. I got there late, drank some club soda, and left early.

Sunday, I literally had to drag myself out of the house. I decided to go to a coffee shop to read and maybe make a new friend. Instead, I ended up having to leave within 15 minutes beca… Continue

Rationalizations & rule breaking: week 2

Sorry it has been so long since my last update on the Summer of Like. As predicted, I've already encountered some problems. First, I broke rule #2. But there were some extenuating circumstances- I've been housesitting in the south valley, and have fallen into a deep void of large, flat screen HD cable TV, and 2 lush acres of gardens and orchards right on the river...can you blame me for wanting to stay in? I also had 2 out-of-town visitors last week… Continue

Definitely! I go to the one on Iron and Alcalde a couple times a week in the evening. Let me know if you are headed that way sometime.... Or I'm always up for a hike!

I think we might have to have a few more "Single Life" meetups if for no other reason than to assist you in your quest.
