The Sunday Poem: Margaret Randall... Something's Wrong with the Cornfields

It was just yesterday I was reading something about genetically modified alfalfa. Alfalfa! Even a century is too short to measure the ultimate results. Margaret Randall frames these issues in her own wise and artful way.

Margaret Randall has published more than 80 books.  The following…

THE LOBOS Beat BYU 86-77

Fans Fill Floor at THE PIT

Were you THERE for that? Or did you catch it on nationally televised, VERSUS in HD?

The UNM Lobos were certainly there and the tired out Jimmer lead BYU Cougars were stunned. Ranked 6th in the Nation ovberall and just today ranking #1 for being the best RPI team (Not sure what this means but hey, they were #1 this morning in their…

Recovery Cat 1.29.2011

Everybody knows that those in bad health, and those who seldom play, do not laugh much. So let each family play together or separately as much as their circumstances warrant. We are sure God wants us to be happy, joyous, and free. We cannot subscribe to the belief that his life is a…

Keeping Company

One of Erica Norgaard’s toughest assignments for the next three weeks will be to find medical care for any ailing Wicked cast and crew members. Locating doctors who will take the company’s out-of-state Worker’s Comp insurance for members of the Wicked company is just one of her jobs as company manager.

The rich aren't sharing the pain of New Mexico's budget deficit

Gov. Martinez says all of us are required to share the sacrifice. But, she doesn't mean the richest 1% of New Mexicans. And, that’s the problem. If you own the ABQ Journal and ABQ Publishing. Inc., then Gov. Martinez doesn't want you to share the sacrifice, you only pay a New Mexico state income tax rate of 4%. Consider this: revenues from state income taxes are used to fund New Mexico's K-12 schools, colleges and universities. The Journal…

State of the Union address 2011 - the missing part?

We watched the President's State of the Union address last night, and the Republican response, and the following news coverage.  A Republican and a Democrat both sat there and we were both impressed with the speech.  We didn't think it was boring as the media kept insisting.  We weren't concerned that he didn't bring up gun control.  We agreed that gun control is an issue like abortion - you are either for it or against it and no one is going to change your mind, and the State of the Union…

Nobhill Frogger On Central

Nobhill is still missing a crosswalk and traffic light at Morningside & Central. The video below illustrates the problem. I don't doubt there are other intersections needing attention.

In March of 2010 The Albuquerque City Council approved the implementation and construction of two…
