Hillary Clinton Campaign Continues

I thought the campaign had gotten as bad as it possibly could, but the Clinton campaign seems really desperate with their new video.

Local Etsy of the Week-MaryTafoya

I'm beginning to suspect that I'm a sucker for a finely turned out product photo. Not to say that MaryTafoya's pieces aren't a hoot and a holler all on their own, but MAN I love the colors in her photos!

Here are some items from her Etsy shop:…

Environmental Waste Home Depot Style

When it comes to environmental resources, waste is worse than use. And nothing demonstrates waste more clearly and more arrogantly than Home Depot. On a Sunday afternoon browsing the garden department I asked an orange-aproned clerk about the many carts filled willy-nilly with plants. “Oh, those are the ones we’re going to throw away.”

“Throw away!” I fairly shouted. “Why? I’ll take them.”

“Sorry,” he said, “It’s the vendor’s policy. We don’t have anything to do with it. I… Continue

Lots of art in the Duke City

I've seen it all over the place, even on the freeways, especially the Big I. But some of the murals I've seen knock me down they're so colorful and beautiful.…

UNM Alums can use Gym and Recreation Programs

UNM Alumni are entitled to use the exercise and recreation facilities and programs at UNM.

Someone asked a question on DCF recently about affordable/flexible health club alternatives. This affordable/flexible solution is limited to UNM Alumni, but is a great benefit if… Continue

Spooky UFO at the Standard Diner-oh wait, it's a weather balloon

Photo: courtesy of my honey and his iphone

Last night while a group of friends and I enjoyed our Mocha Cake and Maple Pecan Pie on the patio at the Standard Diner, we started noticing some strange behavior around us. A guy on his stairwell at the brick loft building across the street stood there looking at the sky far past the time it takes to smoke a cigarette. What was he up to? A chick… Continue

One Week Away

Actually it’s more like six days from today that I fly from Dallas to Albuquerque for an interview. I hate interviewing for jobs. I lost my job in 2001 after “911” as did several thousand people in Tampa, FL. The “Employment” section was thick with opportunities, but I began to wonder if there were actually jobs available. I attended job fairs where the line to get in, was outside the building to the parking lot. When I got in, the vendors quit taking résumé’s. They said to go to their web site… Continue

On the way HOME

It's been a remarkable journey. I was born in raised in ABQ, then went to the southeast for college. I got stuck there for over twenty years. I have no good explanation why. The siren call of Albuquerque has pulled on me all this time. Recently I was able to spend a couple of years back in the Q doing a work project: it was the best years of my life. There's no place like home.

After my most recent time… Continue
