Starbucks' NM Mug and Koko's Corner

I was at Uptown yesterday to hit Anthropologie and had to stop by Starbucks for an iced something (did you notice how hot it was?) I'm usually immune to Starbucks marketing but this time they tapped into my NM love with a state-specific mug. Fire in my yard...blech

Pretty soon I may not have a house TO sell.

I've been lamenting that my house is in month 4 of being on the market. To add to the bad luck? I was just awakened in the middle of the night by a doorbell ringing madly; it was a neighbor telling me someone had set a small fire in my yard. Especially given my chronic insomnia, I was not happy about my one chance at slumberly bliss being messed with (I really want to use other language here but I am trying to keep it clean).

"Thomas Kinkade is Weak," or "Why You Shouldn't Sell Giclee Prints of Your Work"

Unfortunately, someone somewhere decided that art was intended for a specific segment of the population. At least here in the United States. Other societies don't have this problem, and it really is a problem. Oh, Albuquerque. It's not you. It's me. Really, it's me. (update: Actually, it's not me. It's some of our elected leaders)

So, I was house sitting for some friends in western Colorado. (That's the kind of thing you get to do when you're a freelance writer, and you can work from pretty much anywhere.) I was up there from July 7 through the end of last week.

Itsa Italian Ice

My daughter and I were just on 2nd Street between Menaul and Candelaria when I had to do a double take. Itsa Italian Ice is back! They've only been open since July 12th.
