Pride and Equality Magazine hosted "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" this weekend. Originally the film, which played at the Guild Theater, was to run on Friday and Saturday (10/21-22) nights only but due to an overwhelming response they added a third viewing on Sunday (10/23). When the film was announced I dutifully purchased my ticktet along with many other Rocky lovers. I don't actually remember when the last regular showing of Rocky occurred in Albuquerque or in what theater but I do…

While running endless errands during work I found a new little hole in the wall. The food is great, service is fantastic, and the prices beat most restaurant in town.
Entrees range from $5.95 to $8.95.
And they have an espresso bar with trained baristas. WOW!
It's Cafe Lush.
They are open Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. They will soon be open on Saturday and maybe even Sunday, assuming the staff doesn't…

While roaming around Nob Hill and looking for something different, something new I found a tiny hole in the wall with a fun show. I found a magic show. Who knew we had a venue for live magic shows in town? I didn't.
I've gone to three shows there and at $10 or so dollars its a good way to spend an hour and a half. And the plus is these are really friendly folk! Parking is a challenge though - it is Nob Hill afterall. The shows I've been to started at 7:00 p.m. and that…

Pridefest throughout New Mexico is more than gay and lesbian people celebrating who we are as persons. It asks people who are not gay or lesbian to be more than tolerant. It calls for acceptance, which is both a civil right and a human right. And with that its time to prepare for Pride in New Mexico!
With a sizable gay and lesbian population and a scenic setting at the base of the soaring Sandia Mountains, Albuquerque has become one of the more gay-popular destinations in…

Among my many interests, work and involvement in the Duke City I am also a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life. There are teams throughout the City looking to raise funds by various means to support cancer research and support cancer patients and their caregivers. The team I belong to is called the Court Jesters, because we mostly work in legal support services.
Here's my pitch: I am coordinating a fundraising event on Friday, August 12, a…

The New Mexico Gay Men's Chorus (NMGMC) did it again this holiday season! The NMGMC gave Albuquerque the gift of music both somber and playful with "Vignettes of Christmas" directed by Mr. Aaron Howe. Mr. Howe came to the NMGMC just four months ago and right in time to begin planning and rehearsing for this show. While speaking with Mr. Gabe Torres (First Tenor Section) I learned that the chorus practiced every Monday - and their practice paid off. The NMGMC is one of the bright lights in my…
