Morning Fix: South of the Border

  • More on the City Council "takeover." I think Councilor Peña is probably right that there might have been more constructive ways of getting a message across. But I don't think shutting things down and making arrests is an answer either. Also: terrible comments, even for the TV News…

New Mexico, A Hot Bed For The Emerging Green Economy

New Mexico is a “Hot Bed” for the emerging Green Economy. It’s a garden bed nurturing the seeds of change to fruition. I have been on a job search for five months in the Land of Enchantment, and during this time I have found a myriad of self employed people and businesses built on the foundation of sustainability. My searches have been focused primarily in Albuquerque and the surrounding region, and my Google searches have brought me to people and businesses through out the entire state. For… Continue

We are really looking forward to doing this show at the South Broadway Cultural Center in conjunction with Ballet en Fuego! New Mexico has such a unique cultural scene and we love being a part of it. We'll be showcasing a fusion of dance and music from Mexico and Spanish speaking countries around the world. We're not shy about bringing the beauty of the Spanish-speaking world together in one place. We've been influenced by so many beautiful cultures and feel enriched by them. A little bit of… Continue

Porcupines and our amazing universe.

Today is a very beautiful day here in the Duke City. The sun is shining and there is little to no wind ( for the time being). I came into the studio today and saw that another one of the artists here was here when I left last night and here again this morning. So I went to ask her in jest if she stayed the night here. She said no but something really bizarre happened last night. I inquired and she said she was returning from getting coffee at about 3 am and she heard footsteps behind her. She… Continue

Burque vs. Santa Fe

I am preping for up coming bout Sunday. last night Carson B Demented helped me put the Burque on my shirt while we watched the 10:00 news. Why would I be geeking out watching the evening news? Because I was on there. The channel 13 sports anchor came out and filmed us earlier in the day. It was a super sweet segment. I was all over it. I am so excited that we are finally getting some love from the local news. This weekends bout will have some other channel news people there and the NM sports… Continue

"Porque Burque" Artbuquerque Studio Venture

Over the last couple of years Albuquerque has developed into a haven for creative studio/gallery ventures. Artist's seem to survive the brittle line between famine and feast by banning together and sharing space and energy. Whether it's a collective art studio, visual venue or co-op gallery, underground sound gallery, or just space it's bound to house some of New Mexico's most exceptional and motivated artists. We have Out' ChOnda, Broadway Studio,… Continue
