I Lack Discipline, How 'Bout You?

I get inspired each and every week to do my regular DCF post. There's a certain oomph afforded me when reading the preceding day's post by Johnny Mango. His two part series on the Belen BNSF line and Harvey House were great. Not to mention his numerous posts about adventurous episodes with his grandson...

But then it all goes to hell. I have no finishing power. I probably won't even finish this post.… Continue

Biking to the Balloon Fiesta

This Saturday I made my first trek to the Balloon Fiesta by bicycle. From Fringecrest, it took 50 minutes to get there, 45 to come back and I've never enjoyed the event so much as I did this time. While others were cold and in long lines for coffee, I was warm, energized, and ready to enjoy. The coolest thing: Valet parking for bicycles. Just head up the North Diversion channel, turn right at the sign, and hand your bike over to the valet. No charge.… Continue

Bike Path to Balloon Fiesta Park

Interested in avoiding traffic and taking a 'green' ride to this year's Balloon Fiesta? Albuquerque's bike trail system will soon connect to Balloon Fiesta Park.

The bike trail underpasses at Paseo del Norte and Alameda Blvd. are completed. This trail provides safe north-south passage along the west side of the AMAFCA north diversion channel. If you ride by the General Mills plant when they are making cereal, you can smell the sweet scent of childhood breakfasts.

A bike… Continue

An open letter to Neil Patrick Harris

You: a handsome openly gay man who has shared your talent and passion for acting with the world for a very long time.

Me: an obnoxious chubb-ette, who is not a morning person, but a total fan of you.

Why do I take the time to point this out? Well, because I truly hope that you are not offended if you happened to catch a random person being tactless next to you in line for breakfast burritos at the Balloon Fiesta saturday morning. When I realized it was you and your family… Continue

Corporate Folks & Balloon Fiesta

Just wanted to mention that Balloon Fiesta has a few corporate sponsor Fiesta Tents still available for this year's event. I think prime nights for tents on average run around $3,500. Although budgets are tight this year for all of us, could be a good networking / customer appreciation event if your company is large enough (or you have sponsor partners to hold such an event).

If interested, feel free to shoot me your information and I will connect you with Balloon Fiesta's events /… Continue
