Feathered Friend

For the past couple of weeks, I have had the pleasure of being entertained every morning and afternoon by a little red finch. He comes up to my office window and goes through a chaotic ritual of pecking the window, fluttering about and chirping his heart out. A bird, a plane... no wait, a crane?

Heads were swiveling in Old Town today as bypassers tried to determine, 'what is that noise?' An odd variety of pigeon? Recording of new age nature music? Squinting and looking up at the sky, there circling in a chaotic formation are hundreds of what I've determined to be Sandhill Cranes taking a brief vacation in Albuquerque.

Bald Eagle on the Bosque

This morning on our daily walk to the Bosque we were delighted to see a Bald Eagle! It was just another moment that I wished I had brought the camera. It was such a rare and awesome sight. The crows however, weren't as happy, they were chasing the eagle out of every tree he landed in.

I have a question for anyone who might know, is this normal? I have never seen a Bald Eagle in NM in the wild and wondered if they migrate through here or something?

An Opportunity for Photographers, Pros and Ams

I posted about this on the events page, but I am afraid it won't be seen until it is too late for those of you who are interested. Wildlife Rescue is an incredible organization that takes in, rehabs, and releases the hurt or orphaned animals brought to them from all over the greater Albuquerque area.
