Hey Colorado, back off!

OK, let's just get this straight.  New Mexico has the best green chile in the world.  Is there any doubt about that?  If so, can Colorado really compete with the green deliciousness that we are so famous for?…

Last Chance Chile

I hate to break it, but we're kind of butting up against the last call for chile this season, as most roasters seem to close out their supply at the end of October. With that in mind, here's who we know is still roasting:

Green Chile Trade: Sharing The Love

A year ago, I express mailed a particularly good batch of freshly roasted green chile to a former New Mexico coworker and friend who is now living in Alaska. She was JONESING for the chile. A few weeks ago, she returned the favor: freshly caught Alaska salmon. Tonight, I combined her special package with my own recent batch of freshly roasted. The result? Sublime.

Do you have stories of sending green chile and having friends return… Continue

Would You Wait Five Hours for Fresh-Roasted Chile?

God knows what many of us would do for a freshly-roasted batch of New Mexico chile -- but waiting five hours in the hot August sun?

That was the case today at the new Sunflower Market at San Mateo and Academy. Before I entered the store for other items, I had to visit the spectacle in the south-side parking lot: no fewer than 25 people waiting in line, all of them with shopping carts full of burlap bags of chile waiting to be roasted. Some… Continue

Oh Sweet 505

All right. In 3 days we hit the Albuquerque city limits for a show with AMP Concerts at The Source. I'll be opening for one of my favorite songwriters on the planet, Susan Gibson. It's going to be fun. You should come.

MORE IMPORTANTLY...I am trying to plan out my chile fixes...maybe perhaps if I could just get it injected in two alternating streams of red/green/red/green...that might serve me best. But I… Continue

Geneticaly Modified Green Chile....

Why mess with perfection?

The New Mexico State Legislature has approved funding

to develop genetically-modified chile.

Is there anything wrong with our chile now that it

requires modification? Isn't it wonderful just as it

is, delicious and nutritious and flavorful?

Genetically-modified seeds automatically become

the property of its creators.

Want to learn more?

Come on out to the UNM SUB Ballroom

on December 13th at… Continue
