When Peter Pan
premiered in 1904, it was the first theater production which used technology to make people appear to fly. Other plays had created flying chariots or clouds on which people stood, but Peter Pan
was the first that used technology to make a human appear to fly on their own. Although many people think of Peter Pan
as a book, J. M. Barrie did not write the book Peter Pan and Wendy
until after the premiere of the play.
