I’m not quite sure how old I was the first time I went to a midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I would say I was somewhere around 14 or 15 years old. I remember being shocked, amazed, and intrigued. I loved the energy. I loved the music. And, more than anything, I loved the…
Most of you know that I am a burlesque performer. Most of you know that I am very proud of what I do, and the international community that supports the burlesque movement. Every day I learn something new, and am in awe of and inspired by what performers in this genre are doing. It is one of the most eclectic and jaw-dropping performance mediums I have ever known. The traditional bump, grind, and tease aside - burlesque is…
Every holiday season it is so easy to get swept up in the madness of big chain retail deals and steals. Even I was tempted to drag my ass out at 4am to try and grab the food processor I’ve been wanting at nearly 60% off retail. Thankfully, my food coma kept me from such insanity. However, it seems that on Black Friday…Continue
To put it in modern web vernacular, Governor Richardson got PWND! Really, it's just part of the legislative process, but emoticons & netlingo make things more exciting, no? :P
THIS breaks my heart, but thankfully there are awesome people like THIS in town trying to educate and support people with good dogs (like mine!). And their calendar is pretty darn cute too!
I was thinking today about how it's finally summertime. The pool near my house brims with kids and floaties and sunscreen daily. All the animals at the Zoo can be heard chattering away late into the evening. And my tummy has started to crave all the fresh local summer produce that I yearn for during the cold winter months.
Two of the most controversial artifacts in the collection of the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History moved to their new home today. I took a ton of pictures and VIDEO! The whole process was much smoother and simpler than I imagined, and it is such a relief to see them sitting in the new space - alongside other artifacts that the museum had in storage all this time (like the… Continue
The soon-to-be named National Museum of Nuclear Science & History needs help! We are deep into the throws of moving from our old-town location to our new building, planning opening events, AND continuing to build, install, and prep our new exhibits! (EVERYTHING AT ONCE! ACK!)
So, how can you help? Tonight & tomorrow night we are welcoming able bodied volunteers to come help us paint our new exhibit walls so that once our… Continue

I think growing up I never knew what beauty really was. Looking back at childhood pictures, I realize that I didn’t really acknowledge the common notions of fashion, beauty, or mainstream iconology. In the past few months I have spent an ample amount of time looking at family photos, so this is something that has been on my mind a great deal. Those of you who know me best know that this was spawned by some extreme family drama culminating in the… Continue
"The National Atomic Museum will move its largest artifact, a B-52B bomber, to its new location in southeast Albuquerque on January 10 and 11, 2009. The historic plane has been stored at the Museum’s previous location on Kirtland Air Force Base.
The plane wings will be hauled in pieces by tractor-trailer two miles to the new Museum location at Eubank and Southern Blvds. SE in… Continue
Like all of you, I have such a great sense of joy and hope now that Obama has been elected president. It reminds me of the feelings I had at 2 different times in history when Kennedy was president and Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech at the March on Washington.
When I was 16 in 1962, going to high school at Roswell High School in New Mexico, I frequently would stay after school to play… Continue
