Well, I am in Georgia - it's hot and humid. We had a fantastic thunderstorm last night that pounded the lake with gallons and gallons of water - the lightning lit up the sky and the thunder hurt my ears. Welcome to Georgia it said.
We sold our house in Corrales and arrived here in Greensboro, GA. I won't bore you with all the sad details, but this is NOT the time to be a seller in this market. However, now we are the buyer here. So, I've seen both sides now. Times are tough. We moved here because Mike's Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers. She is losing herself and the family has drawn together to decide on her care and help her through it. One sister is currently the caretaker, but this cannot go on much longer. We had hoped to be here sooner, but the real estate market held us back - precious time was lost, but now we are here. Mom is healthy otherwise. I've been trying to come up with some activities for her, like coloring and puzzles to keep her mind engaged.
Georgia is different. People are more than friendly. Georgia has a great solar assistance program - a healthy tax credit programs. I miss my mountain in the morning - and in the late afternoon. I miss the dry air - I am finding this air thick to breathe. My jeans feel as if I have them wrapped in bolts of wet cotton when I go outside. But the trees are wonderful and we are staying on a lake. The geese and ducks come in for a corn-handout every afternoon. I have time to think - a lot of time.
We've been going out and looking at houses. A lot of the newer ones have home owners associations that are restrictive to say the least. We were really hot on this one house and then they sent the CC&Rs - whoa - they had the right to come into your house and inspect it at any time. No solar, no RVs, no statues or birdhouses in the front of the house and the lawn had to be mowed on a certain schedule. No one is coming in my house.
So we are looking at some farmland - the prices are low. In one subdivision - I was looking at a 3500 sq foot house on two acres with an unfinished basement for $399,000. It had granite in the kitchen, open floor plan - it was nice, It didn't lend itself to solar though.
Just wanted to let everyone know we are okay, but not in New Mexico any longer. Sigh.
