What's going on, Albuquerque?
Bear in mind that Federal marijuana laws trump State law and New Mexico has a huge Federal presence. For instance, you're cited in any one of our numerous Federally owned recreation areas. That gets reported and you lose your Pell Grant or other Federally sponsored student aid.
Maybe the city should turn the ABQ Rail Yard's machine shop into a warehouse grocery store / farmer's market, instead of waiting for the sandpit down the street to finally create a pretty small market on top of underground parking. It's a perfect size, doesn't need much rehab for this use, and could include a food court for onsite eats. All it needs (besides rehab) is better parking and a couple of bus stops (maybe include this site as part of the free bus service downtown already has.) I'd bet the sandpit developer would jump at the chance to lose the grocery store and lose the hassle of finding a grocery store that will stick around.
Interesting that the illustration for the article about the female futurist is a man in a suit and tie with a crystal ball. it's a business Mag. -- maybe all their pictures are men dressed like that.
I guess it was either that or the stereotype photo of a gypsy woman.
Colorado is projected to collect about $67 million annually in tax revenue from recreational pot. Surely our state coffers could use a boost....Creating a business friendly environment is a virtue the governor can get behind, right?
