• Newly former game commissioner in trouble for illegal cougar killing.
  • Start screwing 'em young.
  • And make sure they have only a hazy understanding of the natural world.
  • It helps to keep 'em on a steady diet of bad teevee.
  • Do I sound cynical this week? I must admit I feel a bit down about our future here in Albuquerque and in New Mexico. If only there were some viable ideas out there to turn things around.....

The Early Childhood Education thing makes me so angry.  "We have to save the money for an emergency!"  Yes, because being the worst state in the nation for child welfare *isn't* an emergency?

Agreed, Jen.  Those legislators have their heads so firmly and deeply implanted in their rectums that it's a marvel they just don't roll around on the floor up there in Santa Fe.  Shame on all of them, but particular shame on that John Arthur Smith from Deming.  NM will never be more than a third world country with legislators like that.

And....feeding dead animals to carnivores at the zoo?!  Gracious!  Does this mean our children are going to learn that meat doesn't come wrapped up in cellophane?  How ever will they cope?

But doesn't showcasing Albuquerque on Cops portray that same edgy, under-ground image that Breaking Bad did? And everyone loved Br Ba.

Breaking Bad was fiction. Cops is reality porn.

I agree, Jen. Our current atmosphere for children is an emergency by almost any measure.

To say nothing of the fact that we just weathered the worst financial storm in 80 years and still have a surplus in the bank. Wasn't *that* an emergency? If we came out with money to spare, doesn't that suggest we just might be able to reallocate some of it to help our state's neediest?

DCMc, I agree with you too. From another perspective, though, you could argue they're both fictional (certainly both scripted, stage-managed and edited for maximum excitement) but COPS is viewed as real by a lot more people.

Breaking Bad was a morality play.  COPS is schadenfreude.
