Is it my imagination, or does CNM leadership actually "get it" unlike UNM's which seems to wander through the haze. CNM just seems to be more in touch and much more agile and thus delivers a better product to the community.

I agree. The CNM downtown campus sounds great for the city and for the type of people it plans on serving. Hope it works out for everyone!

Remember, though, that UNM pretty much spurred this whole move downtown with their own Innovate ABQ project, which has a focus - enhancing technology transfer from UNM and Sandia and helping build and nurture start-ups based around those technologies - that goes above and beyond CNM's mission statement. Similarly, the kind of stuff it sounds like CNM's innovation center will focus on - starting local manufacturing or artisan businesses, etc. - is mostly "trade-oriented" stuff that is very different from what a 4-year university like UNM can do.

I'm just wondering if the owner of La Esquina is wishing he'd signed a new lease after he learned of CNM's announcement....

I'm sure Roy is questioning his decision today.  I have been going to La Esquina for years.  I myself have noticed a significant fall in patrons.  I'm also sure that the property owners couldn't divulge information about this deal.  Hindsight is 20/20 in this particular case.  I was craving La Esquina the other day.  I can't wait for Cocina Azul to open on April 1st.  I have a lack of NM food choices downtown since I refuse to go to Cecilia's.

Definitely sounds like a little mental illness may be involved...still, glad they caught him.

I'm excited about Cocina Azul downtown too, though it's not that much closer to us than the 12th st. location. I'm just glad they're doing well! Best queso in town, in my opinion. Ramon, now I'm curious about your Cecilia's prohibition. I'm not a fan myself, but usually people rave about that place.

Cecilia is rude.  Plain and simple.  Just too many times her unpleasant personality has come out.  There are several people I work with that refuse to go there because of her attitude.  It is too bad since she does have good food.
