About these microbreweries creating tons of jobs if only the limit was changed -- c'mon - its 25 cents per six-pack - at the usual cost of $6-7 per six pack for the local stuff, that's noise - I doubt La Cumbre will see 3 times the job growth just because of a slight tax reduction, but our DWI programs will suffer. (Let's see - 10,000 additional barrels * 15 gallons per barrel * (0.41 -0.08) per gallon = $49,500 - that sounds like 2 jobs per brewery to me.) Look, if they got the reduction for the beer they sold at their business(es), that would make sense - it would be a huge operation - presently, at $4/pint (16 oz) - 5000 barrels * 15 gallons/barrel *128 oz/gallon / 16 oz/pint serving = 600,000 servings/year * $4 = $2.4M year. That means, per day, 600,000 /365 = 1643 pints per day would have to be sold on premise. That would be a kick-ass huge bar, at present consumption. Anyway, this is a serving-tax reduction scheme, that won't benefit anybody but the owner, and will cost our DWI programs at the statewide level.

Comment by Kenny on March 11, 2013 at 10:40am: Way back in the early 70's, when the South Broadway Cultural Center was just a very low budget library, there used to be a self-help bike shop there. There would usually be someone there who knew how to use basic tools and the basics of bike repair to help out. I was fortunate enough to be able to avail myself of the tools and help when I was learning how to maintain and repair my own bicycle. That experience was instrumental in shaping me and my future.
