But . . . but if New Mexico had tougher laws against animal abusers, Gunhawk Firearms in Los Lunas and other dealers couldn't sponsor coyote killing contest or prairie dog killing contests. IT WOULD BE BAD FOR BUSINESS!! AND JOBS!! SQUAWK! SCREECH!! SCREAM!!

Carlsbad Caverns is another Heritage Site!  New Mexico has quite a few of those 17, so there must be some poor states who have none.

"But Albuquerque — or the Burq, as locals call it — is where I like to go."  Who the heck has ever called Albuquerque 'the Burq?'

Krista, NM technically has three since Chaco Canyon, Aztec and a bunch of lesser-known Chacoan sites are lumped together in a single multi-part "Chaco Culture Heritage site." Still, nearly 18% of the US's total right here in New Mexico? In this area at least we seem to be doing alright.

Anyone else want to start a petition to declare the Frontier a Heritage Site so we could have one right here in the Burq?

Think that would convince them to stay open 24/7 again? If so, I am on board.

The writer of that "Burq Antique Heaven" article lives in Santa Fe.  So.

I noticed that too, OBTS. I wonder how often she gets down to the Burq? Maybe it's all a put-on?

Plus, Taos Pueblo.  I knew that the others were in CO and AZ, but still NM has several!

Pretty significant difference in teacher pay for NM vs. other states.  10K below average won't attract the best and the brightest.  I say Alan Webber for Governor.  I think his progressive, intelligent approach to solving problems is what New Mexico needs!
