I attended the press opening of The Cradle Project yesterday and all I can say is "Wow!" This is a fabulous exhibit of over 550 cradles and it is overwhelming.

Naomi Natale is the founder of the project and it is her goal to bring attend to the estimated 48 million children who have been orphaned by disease and poverty in sub-Saharan African.

There will be an exhibit and opening reception as well as an online auction where you may purchase the cradles. The online auction will be from June 7, 2008 and will end on June 17, 2008. All proceeds will be donated to The Firelight Foundation, which is an organization that awards grants to grassroots initiatives that are directly addressing the needs of children affected by HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.

This is a ground breaking art exhibit here in Albuquerque and it will definitely effect you! Please take the opportunity to check out this exhibit.

Where: The Banque, 219 Central Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM

When: Exhibition: June 7-28, 2008 Thursdays through Saturdays, 1 pm - 5 pm
Opening Reception - June 7, 2008 12 pm - 5 pm

Over 500 unique and handmade cradles, all made of scrap and recycled materials.

It is a great exhibit and a worthy cause. Definitely check it out. Only two more weekends!
