A mother's sacrifice, a daughter's joy

Just got back from taking my daughter to her first concert - Fall Out Boy. (I guess the concerts at the zoo don't count as 'real' concerts.) Despite the awful drive all the way out to the Santa Ana Star Center, the hundreds of screaming teenage girls, the awful bands that opened up for the really loud Fall Out Boy, the $25 t-shirt, and the hell getting out of the parking lot - I had fun. Why? Because my daughter had the biggest grin from ear to ear the entire time. She sang every bad song, screamed when each band mentioned Albuquerque, screamed at the loud boom of the pyrotechnics, and jumped up and down when canons dropped about a ton of confetti. She must have said 'awesome' 100 times on the way home. It was a small sacrifice to see my daughter have so much fun.

I forgot to mention last night...
I'm so old I didin't realize that nobody holds lighters in the air anymore. They hold up their glowing cell phones! Ha!

sounds like a lot of fun...for young people. Ha Ha thats hilarious about the cell phones instead of lighters. I have heard a lot of good things about the concert but they are from very young people. hee hee

What a great mom! Who knows what kids will be holding up at concerts when the Grumbeckle is old enough to attend... ;)

what a great mom, indeed! After a childhood of mostly classical music (except for the soundtrack to Grease and that night that a neighbor brought over the single of Devo's 'Whip It', oh, and do I admit it? Shaun Cassidy), my first concert was Sting in Houston. They gave out little yellow flashlights which I didn't know until later were substitutes for lighters! Thanks for the memories!

Ha! I thought my first concert was Sonny and Cher at The Pit, but my dear mom reminded me it was David Cassidy at Tingley. I guess I blocked that from my memory!
