I don't know how to say this delicately... but I have been told I shop like a woman. Remember- I didn’t make that sexist remark, others did. I like to shop. I like to window shop. I like to "for real" shop. (?) Clothes, wine, whatever. And contrary to what some may have been led to believe...I like to shop for others most of all. So I have been anxiously awaiting the winter holiday season.

Let's call this my first in a series of shopping adventures. Once I receive my new Nikon 10.2 MP D-SLR w. FREE shipping this week I will work my way around town turning you on to more cool gifts from cool places. Well here are a few stops along Nob Hill, "pre-Shop N Stroll", with pics from my new Motorizr.

Where can I get a big ‘ol, cool belt buckle? you may have been asking yourself recently, as was I.

Drag friends &/or family to visit Das at Revolver for all your belt buckle needs. Sorry, the scorpion is now mine. They also have an outstanding selection of cufflinks (wink), ties, and clothing. Their vintage sign say’s "Sparky’s Clothing"… it’s the rocket ship in the top pic.

"Salsa Style for your home" can be found at Que Chula!

We met owner Beverly Cole as we perused handblown glasses & Mexican folk art.

They have a super crucifix wall! Yah, I bought one. Yah, for me.

Very colorful store, bring sunglasses.

And no daytrip to Nob Hill would be complete without visiting our friends Kiko & Tara at Masks Y Mas.

I found a cool T-shirt for Xmas giving here. Their selection of statuary & other Mexican folk art is vast.

Check out the artwork & also visit the new gallery around the corner.

By now it was 4:00, tea time, and we headed back to the car. What’s that I spy? Scalo for a Martini. Why of course you say. My treat! The ladies (why of course you say again) had something different. Every try an Italian Mojito? Made with Basil and no rum actually. Try it, you’ll like it. Ciao. Vroom.

Such a loaded question...so many answers.
Was that a reference to Martini Mike's ever expanding waist lately?
I love a good smart aleck.
So you wanna get belted huh?
Where can I get a nice big belt of whisky?
OK, but seriously... My "buckle belts" have come from... the eevil Wal Mart.
However- try Old Town, Revolver, or maybe even Hot Topic at Coronado Mall.

Well, I've been told I buy shoes like a man (I hate to do it.)

Thanks for the tips - we're lucky here in the quirky burque to have so many wonderful choices!

akoolstik--dan's boots and saddles on 4th between osuna and paseo sells belt straps--they run to the western flavor, but every now and then you can find a plain-er strap. bring the buckle with you--you'll need it to know if it will fit on the strap.

akoolstik, you might also try a shoe repair place. They often have the leather to create a belt. I know I've had them make purse straps for me.

FYI the Sparky's sign isn't vintage. It was specially made in the other SF when Sparky's used to be located there on Haight street.
