Brandi Carlisle and the Twins at ABQ Zoo 2008

Karlita and I started scheming about how we were going to make it to this show months ago, long before the move to ABQ was on the radar. We went through a lot of crap to get this far, and getting to see the girls was to be the prize for all our work. About mid-week Karla asked me if we needed to get tickets for the show, and I assured her I had seen over a dozen shows at the zoo, and there was always plenty of tickets. I didn't even think it was possible to buy tickets in advance. So we get there, and find the show's sold out. In fact it was sold out by Wednesday and was the first show ever to sell out at the zoo ampitheater. Needless to say Karlita and I were devastated and in a state of shock. She restrained herself from blaming me, which I appreciated greatly. We stood outside for several minutes, near tears and deflated. I started looking for scalpers when Karla hollered for me, a man had walked up to her and handed her two tickets and said, "Merry Christmas." Indeed. It must have been an angel (plus he rescued my butt from guilt for not nailing this down earlier). My auntie begged a guard to wheel her in along with us and was successful, so we all got in free! You just can't imagine what a big deal this was for us.

Indigo Girls ABQ Zoo 2008
I've seen Brandi four times and Amy and Emily approaching a dozen times. Usually the audience is screaming out "Closer to Fine!" or "Galileo!" At this venue, the crowd was screaming, "
Cannonball!" hoping the girls would take a splash in the koi pond (they refrained). We had an awesome time and were delighted to get to see our dear friend Laura, who was happy and radiant. We are so grateful. A miracle a day keeps the blues away.
