An article in today's USA Today exposes one of our dirtiest secrets:

Albuquerque has a self-esteem problem

I couldn't agree more. No matter what we write about on Duke City Fix and no matter how much positive national attention Albuquerque gets, frequently there are folks on hand to belittle the city.

It's as though some of us actually WANT to suck. Well, this is the 4th positive article on Albuquerque in the national press within the past month, so some of you are going to have to bite the bullet and start believing.

ALBUQUERQUE — New Mexico's largest metropolis has an identity problem.

Just 60 miles to the north, the capital city of Santa Fe — style icon and darling of the chic set — hogs the limelight like an adored older sister who has cuter clothes and more friends. In contrast, Albuquerque seems ungainly, even a bit dowdy. Indeed, many out-of-towners experience little of the city beyond its airport, where they fly in, rent a car and make a beeline north.

It's enough to give a place an inferiority complex...
