East mountains to ABQ - by bus!

New Mexico DOT has been running various Park & Ride services for some time. But now a second route between Albuquerque and the east mountains makes it even easier to leave the car at home.

I've been riding off and on for the past month and have noticed little oddities all along the way - like the Tijeras municipal buildings, the LaFarge gravel lots, and little paved driveways that seem to go nowhere. And of course the feeling of lots of air conditioning.

Three bucks each way from Moriarty to Tijeras gets you either to the Uptown or Alvarado transit centers in ABQ (Turquoise trail route). The new pilot route stops on Eubank at Central and Research and continues onto Kirtland AFB (I-40 pilot route).

If enough people ride the new pilot route, we may see even more service to the east mountain communities in the future.

Is there any discount for students of UNM or CNM?

Also, what about for people going into Tijeras/Moriarity/etc. early in the morning rather than from them coming to ABQ? Does the route also run for that? =D
