After the great debate on the forum about what to do to celebrate the Fourth of July in Albuquerque, we wound up having a couple of friends over and setting off fireworks in the street in front of my house. We had fun with the big sparkly Rain Dances and Golden Showers (yes that's what the package called them), but I think the clear winners for goofy fun of the night were the poppers-you know, the little pieces of twisted paper with sawdust and whatever else in them that pop when you throw them at the ground, or at your boyfriend, or at the other fireworks. Good times. Hope you all had a good one, too.

It was YOU PEOPLE!!!!

Naw, my poor chihuahua, tho. He just hates this holiday. I woke up repeatedly last night with him standing across my face. Umm...honey, here...just lay down with me, I'll keep you safe...no need to press your ribs against my forehead.

Oh, I'm sure the puppies of the neighborhood were cursing us roundly. So cute that your chihuahua finds your face to be the safest place in the house!

Rodney, save your passive aggressive ranting for someone who really was setting off unreasonable fireworks. My $20 Smith's pack of weenie crackers made less noise than the nearby professional displays and we set them off before 9:30pm. My neighbors responses were along the lines of, 'we'll have to come out and set some off with you next year'. You sound like you have some valid frustrations but you're aiming them at the wrong person when you vent them at me. 'must not kill them'? Wow, I'd better put away my sparklers before I get a cap in my ass...;-)
