Since I arrived to Albuquerque I tended to carp, but I mostly kept it in check. In fact, the weather was fabulous -- I'm just waiting for a perspective over a season to form. Still, one thing stands alone: prices of alcoholic beverages.

Everything is between 50 and 100% more expensive. Two-buck Chuck is three bucks, Asti jumped from $9 to $13, Moet is pushing forty!

What gives?

I think something is broken here. The obnoxious DWI reporting ads hint that it must be something other than just transportation costs.

P.S. The white Raffaello is cheaper in the next-door Wal-Mart than it was in California. GO ALBUQUERQUE! See, you can have good stuff. Why not wines then?

I guess it depends on where you shop. World Market generally has decent wine prices. Also try Quarters or Kelley's (The NE heights locations tend have better prices).
