I was at Uptown yesterday to hit Anthropologie and had to stop by Starbucks for an iced something (did you notice how hot it was?) I'm usually immune to Starbucks marketing but this time they tapped into my NM love with a state-specific mug. It has a picture of the Taos Pueblo on it (the usage of which I'm ambivalent about) but the hook for me was the text, 'New Mexico, red or green?'

I was sans camera so I couldn't take my own photo of it. I looked for an image of the mug online and found this cool blog post from a chick in San Diego (Koko?) who made a 'foodie road trip' through New Mexico and picked up one of the mugs while she was here.

my brother in law has been collecting the starbucks state mugs for about ten years. I keep forgetting to get him a NM one, and when I remember - whichever store I go to is out of them. I'll have to head to Uptown to pick one up! THANKS!

Glad I could tip you off to where you can get one, Ri Ri!

Just Al, if I remember correctly, the mugs are $10.

I got some of these mugs for friends back East when I went there recently. I, too, am normally immune to buying the merchandise offered in a Starbucks, but I think the "red or green?" at the bottom of the mug hooked me.

Ririsyncyr: the Starbucks in Nob Hill had a bunch of them at the beginning of July...

Interestingly enough, I picked up that very mug and lusted for it just yesterday! I need it for my collection.

As a marketing person myself, I love that they actually looked into the local culture here and didn't just throw up a zia sign and call it a day. Yay Starbucks New Mexico marketing team.

Hmmm... pineapple in the background? Where did that picture come from?

I LOVE my Chicago mug! But its pretty much the only thing I've bought from Starbucks in the past 12 months...the best coffee and/or mocha in town is at the Grove!
