Meals on Wheels of Albuquerque Pet Division

Meals on Wheels is expanding its efforts to serve local homebound clients through the upcoming launch of its pet division!

Through the generosity of sponsors like Wellness brand pet food and Enchantment Pet Spa, Meals on Wheels' homebound clients with pets will receive an allotment of pet food per month starting this September.

Any of us with pets can appreciate the bond between owner and animal. For many of Meals on Wheels clients, pets serve as the main source of daily companionship.

Currently we are looking for volunteers to deliver the pet food allotment once monthly to clients and / or assist with packaging the food.

Pets Are Wonderful Support

They originally only provided services to low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS, but have since expended their clientele to include persons with other disabling illnesses, as well as senior citizens. I did everything from walking peoples dogs, to scooping cat boxes, to collecting donations of pet food/supplies at grocery stores, to driving clients & their pets to the vet, to working at their big fundraising events. It was the best volunteer experience of my life.

if MoW expands their program to do more of this hands on stuff - I'm your girl!

There are a lot of people in ABQ that care about their community. Thanks!
