I know there was a post a few days ago about Sophia's being on 'Diners, Drive-ins and Dives' and I responded to say that I knew the show would be filming at The Standard Diner on Central as well. Today I got a call from one of the owners of The Standard, telling me to invite all my friends to come to lunch tomorrow (Thursday 8/21), and be in the background for filming. I guess they're starting filming in the morning and will continue throughout the day. The restaurant opens at 11 am and if you wanna try your shot at being on The Food Network, while having a tasty meal, this might be your chance!

As a side-not and mini-plug, if you haven't been there in awhile, the menu has changed a bit because they got a new fantastic chef, Darren McHale, a few months ago. He is also doing a "Saturday Nights of Summer" special dinner, obviously on Saturdays, and I've been on the email list for those, and let me tell you, the menus make me drool!

Happy Eating!!

Can't make the shot, but good to know they have a new pair of hands working there. Last time I went, I had this beet patty thing that was pretty upsetting.

That's not a word that should be applied to food.
And I'll eat pretty much anything that doesn't exhibit locomotion.

OK, just to clarify, there is no free food, BUT for those who still wanna go, they are apparently filming until about 10 tonight. The crew was funny, they were filming at a bunch of the different tables, standing on tables and the wait stations to get shots. Looked like people were having fun with it. I guess they pick a few items and those are the "featured items" that they focus on, so if you are willing to order those, the owners may (or may not) hook you up.

Have fun if you make it over there!

P.S. I just did the color consulting for the interior colors, and saw it for the first time today. I love it, but I would also love to hear some other peoples' feedback!

sound like a good time!

@Camian, whisper into their ears and tell them to come down to my shop, i'll turn you, the new chef, Guy, the crew onto some italian sausage grinders, SE corner of rio grande & griegos.

haha, you think I have power!.... no, my dear, Joe Sausage, I am simply a designer who knows the owners over there. I never even got on camera or talked to the crew, not my thing, I'm a behind the scenes kinda girl. ;-)
My suggestion would be to email Guy right now, because I think they're in town till next week, or at least coming back next week. Good luck!!!

sausage is unique, especially lean, delicious sausage. you don't have to have any power, just timing, you find out when they are shooting, i'll make one of my tylical baquette sized italian sausage grindes topped w/ bell peppers, onions, olive oil & oregano, very classic, the bread is key, i use french riviera baquette, as your eating the sandwich, you come walking into the shoot like it's no big deal, brush up against guy, he says holy sh*t, where did you get that, you act real nonchalant and tell him, with your mouth full, Joe S. Sausage. i'm just joking around, thanks for bringing this to our attention and have a good one.
