Are you sure you're registered to vote? You better check because this Tuesday, October 7th is the last day to register to vote to participate in the election!

This Congressional District has a history of very close races and we need every last vote. I need you to visit the Secretary of State's easy to use website and confirm that you, your family and your friends are registered to vote.

If you're not registered and you need help registering - we're here to help! Give us a call right now at 505-244-0022 to get a registered or email Brendan at You can also request a voter registration form on my website. Tuesday is just around the corner and we need to make sure each and every supporter in New Mexico's First Congressional District is registered to vote!

Thanks so much for your time.

Yeah Martin! Way to step up! Thanks for the post.

"U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!"

I personally registered a dozen or so voters by walking door to door in the 'hood in recent weeks and many of them have told me they got their notification in the mail... made me feel good.

Just kidding about the U-S-A chant...

I registered at the Farmers Market a couple weeks ago.... a woman from Natl Org for Women had a table. I've not yet gotten any confirmation yet. Should I be worried??

Yes, I am. I registered at the fair, and I got my voter registration card in the mail yesterday.

Yes, I checked... I'm not there. I'm wondering if there is a huge back log?? How long does it take to get into the system... there is no way I'm not voting this year!

JeSais, did you get one of those thin strips of yellow that "break off" the voter registration form? It is kind of like your receipt, and has a serial number on it. You can call the County Clerk's office and ask them the status based on that.

I'll bet there's a backlog because someone I registered (sent out in the mail a week ago last Monday) hasn't heard anything either, but people I registered 3-4-5 weeks ago are telling me they got theirs int he mail.

Damn, Mr. Heinrich - this is my first time voting in NM and I just found out that I am not in your district so obviously I can't cast a vote for you. Best of luck to you, though!

I haven't received my voter notification either...they still have my old address. I bet they are way backlogged, given the young and enthusiastic registration folk that have been scouring the countryside.

UPDATE: I called the Voter Registration people....the Bernalillo County Clerks office. I spoke to a super nice guy who first looked me up in the computer system-- I was not there. Then he said, "Hang on a minute, I'll check the files" (which I imagined to be stacks and stacks and stacks of voter registration paper work. And then my phone battery died. I put my phone in the cradle to charge it and before I could even find my cell phone to call him back, he called me! Thank goodness for caller id. And I had just enough juice in my phone for him to tell me he (1) Found my paperwork (2) I had put 2008 as my YEAR of birth (duh!) and (3) He would go ahead and process it (after getting my real year of birth)

It felt so small town friendly! I wish I had gotten his name to send a thank you letter.... which I may do anyway-- he just might remember me!
