You know Christmas is right around the corner when this big guy greets you as you travel westbound on I-40. Thanks to the wonderful folks at the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority for keeping this tradition alive and giving me a reason to smile during morning traffic.

Anyone have a name for him/her?

Check out the Dec/Jan issue of Albuquerque the Magazine for more info on Mr. Tumbleweed Snowman!

Where exactly on (or off) of I-40 is this tumbleman? Can it be reached/seen by city bus or at least close to it? (Snoopy's brother Spike made a tumbleweed snowman on the christmas special: I Want a Dog for Christmas Charlie Brown.)

For years now I thought he was mailman. Thanks for clearing that up.

It seems bigger this year. Donny... the sno- tumbleweedman is on the westbound lanes of I-40, approaching the interchange after the Carlisle ramps. You can get on westbound I-40 at Carlisle, and get off at University for a quick view. :P

A mailman? Why would a mailman be standing on the side of the interstate? Silly.

"Mr. Tumbleweed Snowman"
"tumbleman"
"mailman"
"sno- tumbleweedman"
and someone else I know said, "That thing is frightening, in a Mr. Staypuff kind of way."
