The HVAC situation at Ernie Pyle is appalling. The students and teachers shouldn't have to be thinking about staying warm, they should be able to focus on teaching and learning. How does it take a year to replace the HVAC system? If this has been a problem since this summer, why is it still breaking down every week? Is is purely a bureaucracy issue? Is there any kind of pressure we as community members can place to get this situation remedied? This isn't just a South Valley problem...these are our kids, this is our town...any suggestions for action?

Re: Shins-- Even though I'm probably Shins fan Club Member #8, I am way more impressed by ex-Neutral Milk Hotel and ABQ/Santa Fe-related "Beirut" making the Honorable Mention list.... WAY TO GO!!!

Is the guy from A Hawk and a Hacksaw the ex-NMH member who's involved with Beirut, Masshole? Check them out if you haven't already, especially if you like Beirut-style Balkan pop stuff. Beirut is actually twice-local: the aforementioned NMH alum who sits in sometimes is from Albuquerque, and Zach Condon, the band's driving force, grew up in Santa Fe and lived there till shortly before the first Beirut CD came out.
