re:Audio Bible -
It would be sweet if Revelations were narrated by Vincent Price and had all sorts of gruesome sound effects. I would get the thing and play it on Halloween.

Not pugnacious. Just irreverent.

I just moved from florida where the police force were also fighting to become armed in schools... that is CRAZY, especially with recent events like the tasering of a student at the University of Florida.... you can watch how easily that can get out of hand on youtube!

"alarming trends in biblical illiteracy"

They say that like it's a bad thing.

Even if you're not a believer in any religion you can gleam historical, ethical and personal insight from the various religious texts. I think a desire to scoff at them comes from a mix of the discomfort between those who easily 'believe' and those who do not believe at all, and a need for the latter to point out 'I am not one of those people' and shows a certain lack of respect... otherwise, if you don't read the Bible, Koran, Torah, or what have you, there would be no need to call attention to that fact. I think people feel the need to point those sorts of things out as part of their identity.

Thanks, Rodrigues. I apologize for the offense (although you have to admit, that is a pretty cool suggestion).

I'll go ahead and get started on my reading list.
