Another case of Chrysler and other large, oil related companies writing our legislation. The legislation that was passed federally will require auto manufacturers to produce vehicles that will average 35mpg... by the year 2020! Not exactly cutting edge emission control. Just enough time not to disrupt profit margins.

Important to note that the EPA's decision was strong-armed by Dick Cheney who met with auto execs in October who voiced their opposition to California's stricter standards.

Does anybody remember Cheney's closed door meetings with Enron which dictated our national energy policy and caused blackouts across California to the tune of billions of tax-payer dollars? The Dark Lord strikes again.

Okay, now that someone else said it first, I'm pretty impressed that Astana is coming to town too. Tickets for the NHCC event seem pretty steep, though. And I'm not sure what flamenco dancing has to do with cycling, maybe cause of the clicky shoes?

I worked at LANL until I got sick of it. I wonder if the Fedz want to talk to me?

Indeed the Pedal Queens put on a great event. And tons of schwag. But I think that's cause the ladies know how to throw a great party. And the city wants publicity. Two different things. I mean, really, who would you rather throw your birthday party... a bunch of fun loving, bike riding babes, or mayor marty and the city council?

That being said, who would you rather ask for funding for more bike paths?
