I'm not gonna call shenanigans yet, but the past two weeks have been pretty crazy. Who here hasn't gotten 10 calls from Hillary this last week? This morning, I'm home with the ill child, the phone rings... Hillary campaign. Again. So the guy starts in on his shtick, and as I try and politely tell him I have heard it already the call waiting beep sounds. Probably my wife or the doctor I think to myself, and half panic cause I'm a tard with this particular phone and it's technology capabilities. I figure the best way to deal with it is just hang up on Hillary guy to make sure I get the other line before they hang up. So when I finally click back in the new call on the other line is... a Bill Clinton recording! Wow... How'd they do that?

We finally got a call from the Obama camp today on voicemail. The guy even told us the voting hours and our precinct location in Taylor Ranch. (we live in Nob Hill). Suspicious? Well, in Nob Hill you can't drive half a block without hitting an Obama sign. Hillary signs? Scarcer than Heather Wilson signs. It's an easy a 10:1 ratio in favor of Obama signs. I kept the recording and caller ID number just in case...

But the cream of the crop... My wife is a registered democrat (hence the calls), and for some reason I don't know why, she RE-REGISTERED to vote. Some student was collecting voter registrations could we help him out etc etc... So she re-registered. Anyway... she gets her new voter ID card last week, and they put down her party as REPUBLICAN ("Great! Now you can vote for Ron Paul" I told her. She glared at me.) So she calls up BERNCO to fix the problem, tells them that she put down Democrat and they registered her Republican and the guy there says "That's funny. You're the second person to call with this story today". It was later decided, by all parties involved in the discussion, that she NOT go vote today. To avoid potential spoilage, recounts, whatnots. *sigh*

And it ain't even November yet...

Hmmmm
now I feel slighted, I got one call from an Obama supporter a month ago, I explained I was for Edwards and I was going down with the ship, he was very polite and said he understood. Since then NOT ONE CALL, I'm sooooo bummed

You can all save yourselves a lot of annoying things in life by just getting rid of the land line, the TV and the paper. A DSL line and a cellphone that stays in the glove compartment for most of the day is all that tethers me to all the negativity out there and it's so much more freeing. And if you can't break the information addiction, tell the callers that you are a professional and that you charge for your services and that your basic charge for a consult is usually $250.00 and what is your MC or VISA number please? It always worked for me.

You know what's weird? I didn't receive a single call to go vote from any of the democrats... I wonder how some people like you got completely harassed and I was completely ignored?

I got pounded with calls...a lot of them from the Clinton campaign as well as a ton of dead space + hang up calls when I stopped picking up the phone. Maybe I should get rid of my landline.

No need to get rid of the land line. Just have caller id - and not answer the phone for a couple of days.

As a marketer, I have to wonder if the campaign zealots calling, calling, calling...and knock, knock, knocking do more harm than good. Do people get so annoyed they just turn off (and don't turn out?) (That's why I wrote a blog post yesterday, Go Vote - Even If Your're Annoyed.)

In any event, I find 2008 far more interesting than 2004.

I'm just thrilled we had that many votes! If nothing else, if ya don't vote, ya don't have a right to complain...

I also enjoy watching all the "experts" try to dissect and explain re demographics (white women, black women, Latinos, immigrants, blah...blah....blah...etc. etc. Old women, young men...what about sorta beige, sorta old women? ;-)

I had the TV on all last night, and all I heard over and over was black, latino, woman, blacks, latinos, women... I was a little bothered by it actually.

The _last_ presidential election ruined the phone for us permanently. We've never gone back to answering it. Serious. So many calls a day from political tools from all directions. After the second or third angry right wing man leaving messages about combatting the homosexual agenda, we even unplugged the machine for a few weeks. (You know, after picking up and screaming into the receiver that they were calling a queer household and why don't they go F themselves.) I'm not looking forward to the next 10 months.

True, I only saw 2 Hillary signs while walking from Old Town to Nob Hill yesterday (yes my buns hurt today) and about a zillion Obama signs. So I was shocked to find out the race is so close. Maybe Hill made the impact without the sacrifice of so many trees (in exchange for a tall phone bill, for sure). Hmm. . .
