The farmers markets are coming, or already here!

Finally it is time to go out in the sunshine and buy local produce! Los Ranchos Growers' Market has begun I believe, as well as the Corrales Growers' Market, and the Nob Hill Growers' Market(a mere four blocks from my house), is less than two weeks away.

I do hope this year sees hugh growth (not punning) in attendance both of growers and shoppers, burque is more than worthy of a farmers market 'scene' to rival other small cities. Santa Fe is working toward a permanent site, I spent some time in Vancouver Washington their Indoor/outdoor downtown market was to die for. All the local condo dwellers downtown made the market an instant huge success, in fact people from Portland biked over the bridge to go there.

Imagine if we had something like the Vancouver market downtown . . . .

A permanent grower's market/swap meet would be a great candidate for a space in the renovated railyards...c'mon, City Council and Mayor Marty, you know it makes sense!

I love the downtown grower's market! The prices are comparable for many things and you get a pleasant, shady place to hang out, plus coffee for sale at the Java joe's stand.
I think I get much better tomato at the market.
I can hardly wait.

At the Nob Hill Grower's Market last year we had food besides produce. We had: honey, goat cheese, frozen salmon, fresh pasta, French Bakery items, pies, fruit drinks. We also had guitar music, juggling, and voter registration.

I think you are right, I also think he was part of either the Alfalfa's chain in Colorado or part of the original Wild Oats, which bought them out. I just looked at the Sunflower web site and couldn't find any company history.
The produce they carry is not local, but compant is at least regional.

I'm not a member of the Co-op and don't intend to become one. Too much attitude and not enough deodorant. I'll take LPO, TJ's, Sunflower, the Farmer's Mkts and my own little garden anytime.

I think the Nob Hill co-op has improved the customer service somewhat. I never had issues with the Valley co-op

Does anyone know if the NOb Hill Market is open today I am dying for a farmer's market. I lived in NYC the last two summers and their year round market is awesome. The suggestion about a year round market in Albuquerque is great- what would it take?
