a.k.a. Paula Manning-Lewis, she is one of DCF's very own local artists who sell on Etsy. My favorite part of Paula's Etsy profile is her description of her life here in Albuquerque. She has written a wonderful passage about how her work relates to peace on earth enduring for future generations but the part of my brain that is distracted by shiny objects can't carry itself past the thought that, 'she goes for Bosque walks, too...!'

From Paula's profile:

'I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico only a couple hours from my hometown, Las Cruces. I live with my husband Aaron, youngest son Nate, middle son Jeff, and two dogs in a great house about half a mile from the Rio Grande River. You'll find us walking along the Bosque (area of trees around the river) most sunny afternoons. I spend my days (and some nights) working in my home studio, connected to the world by internet.'

Paula is participating the the 'Porque Burque' gallery exhibit at Verb Collective which runs through May 31, 2008. If you can't make it to see her work in person, here are some items from her Etsy Store (pay particular attention to the last item, she does custom matting! I often frame art for less money by buying a standard sized frame and having the work custom matted to the frame instead of splurging on an entire custom frame):

Centered Abstract Daily Journal Painting acrylic recycled vinyl

Embroidered Dragonfly Brooch

Blue Flower Spiral Greeting Note Card

Reconstruction Spiral Abstract original oil painting

large size mat custom cut to your specifications by Paula M

Excellent choice, Spring. I too get distracted by shiny objects...and swirly things...and color and texture...ummm, what was I saying? Oh right, excellent local artist Etsy highlight, Paula is fab.yoo.lous.

Spring! Thank you so much for featuring my etsy shop! Now I can't say I never get featured! I wish I could claim the butterflies and dragonflies as my own creation, but I'm selling them for another artist friend of mine. Actually, she's more of a mentor. Again, thank you so much for featuring me!! WooHOO!!!
