DCF+Art+Wine=Good Times

This evening was the opening of the 1st ever DCF + Verb Collective Art Opening... and you know what? It was a blast!

Not only was there fabulous and inspirational art, but there were genuinely nice people.

And there were snacks and beverages. Who doesn't like a good snack and bevvie all the
whilst enjoying some tantilizing eye candy? If that's your thing, you were in the right place.

Anyhoo, as a participant of the upcoming Arts and Crafts Show (I'll be the gal with the silly,
yet FUN collection of coasters and cards and pillows and magnets and photos and....)it was
awesome to check out the spot where all this crafty madness will be taking place. The folks
over at Verb were delightfully welcoming and I, myself, am looking forward to the best damn
Craftacular Show I've (ok, my first time) ever been a part of. Thanks to all yous who put
this fun time together... you truly have made this a great event!

Does anyone know what the hours are at VERB? I want to stop by this weekend now that I'm better and see everyone's work.

I'm so sad that I couldn't be there either. Work always seems to get in the way of my personal life!! But I, and I'll speak for Vashti and Riri too, want to give a HUGE shout out to Blake Driver, Christopher Blaz and Carol Hodgins of VERB for their graciousness, hard work and all around dedication to promoting art in our community. They are so much fun to work with!

And the fun will continue! We have a spectacular, craftacular, once-in-a-life-time-acular Craft Fair happening at VERB on May 31st from 11:00 - 4:00. Come and check out even more creative souls!

When Vashti and I were arranging and hanging art thursday night, we were blown away at what was submitted. It is a really good show that everyone has to go see!

ANNNNND - I believe the "SOLD" count at the end of the night was FOUR!!!

Comment by Blakeington on May 18, 2008 at 1:57pm: Well, hands down, it was one of the funnest events we've had at VERB, and we've had a lot of good ones people. What made it the most special for me? The artwork and the people that came out for it. The DCF community proved to be just as awesome in person as online! Can't wait to do it again. Thanks for the photos Andrea. I took some awesome ones that I'll try and post tomorrow, and as Susan See said, she might be getting hers together, too.
As far as gallery hours go, here's how it works right now. We have four regular events a week: Sewing Circle with Kaye on Monday from 7-10 pm, Jewelry with Chris Hammel on Tuesdays from 7-10 pm, ReVERB, an open jam, on Wednesdays at 7 pm, and Live Figure Drawing on Thursdays from 7-10 pm (though with a live model there, that might not be the greatest time to come see the show). Most of these events charge a small cover, but I promise if you tell the person in charge that you're just there to see the work, they'll be gracious and let you in. And who knows, maybe you want to join a class while you're there! Before stopping by, give a call to the studio first (268.2344) to make sure the class is still going. Also, a great time to check out the work AND see an awesome show would be next Friday May 23 at 9 pm. Daddy Long Loin is having his CD release party there, and the cover is only $2 (read Todd Eric Lovato's preview on page 14 of this week's Local iQ).
