In other news, the sun rises and it sets. WHY is this news?? Is it an election year for the police chief or some APS official?

Femlee continued. "...they are out there with their girlfriends. Who knows what they are doing out there?"

Really, Femlee? You don't know?

I guess with only 49% of the students graduating in New Mexico it may be time to do something about it.

I have a good idea what they're doing with their girlfriends while playing hooky...they'll wish they were better at it later!

Why is this news? Because this isn't Phoenix. If this is the worse news the local TV stations can find then I won't complain.

I suppose a better question might have been, "why is this getting so much attention?" I know that there is a backlog of cases of child abuse and neglect that is several years old; one would think that would get more attention that catching pot smokers on senior skip day. Just my humble opinion, as a former educator. If they're going after ditchers, they should get them in middle school - that's when the trouble starts.

I'd agree if only 49% of high school students in NM graduate then it is most definitely time to do something about it.
It's easiest to blame the schools, far tougher (though infinitely more effective) to instill in your children the drive and values needed to make themselves succeed in school.

If KKOB was reporting the story, it would be sandwiched between Steve Stucker and 'breaking weather' and Michael Kel-TING and 'breaker weather'. I swear that station starts its every news cast with 'breaking weather'. This country could be under attack and they will spend 20 of the 30 minutes on 'breaking weather using Super Duper Doppler Radio - Pin Point Doppler Radar".
