This linkage came in today from: Spaceweather.com but I have neither read nor heard anything about it locally...Anyone in 'burque area see it or know more about this Giganto FIREBALL which apparently rivaled the moon in brightness...?

"SOUTHWESTERN FIREBALL RIVALS THE HARVEST MOON: Last night, sky watchers in the southwestern United States witnessed a brilliant fireball. It was almost as bright as the full Harvest Moon and caused a loud sonic boom over parts of New Mexico. A movie of the event is highlighted on today's edition of SPACE WEATHER dot com.

I am jealous of you 'seers'...details of what took place during your sightings would be delicious...where were you...scary/freaky or awesomenal/life changing...? I learned long ago in NM to keep looking up, and occasionally falling down or stubbing toes though.

Tom Ashcroft, who operates one of Sandia's camera in Lamy, has a video of it here. Sandia's Los Alamos camera also captured it here.

The researcher that I spoke with said it was a meteor.

What? People with first hand knowledge and/or scientific expertise commenting on this stuff? I thought for sure by now there would either be:
• someone talking government conspiracy/coverup
• a link to "Great Balls of Fire," or
• a Star Wars geek making some reference like "That's no moon..."

Internet, you disappoint me. What's all this business about facts, knowledge, credible sources, and observations? Bring on the loonies!
