Since The Sunday Poem series started last February, 29 different local poets have been featured here on the front page of the Duke City Fix. If you feel like reviewing their contributions, just click on The DitchRider
in the left-hand sidebar. Every magical poem and poet is still there...each offering a different aspect of our rich literary scene here in Albuquerque. And we haven't finished yet! But meanwhile, we threw a potluck for those who had already shared so much of themselves on the DCF every Sunday.
What an impressive and diverse gathering! Lots of people were able to attend. We shared food and then everyone shared a poem in an intimate reading afterwards. I had never been to anything quite like it. What a cast of all-stars.
Quite a few of us brought cameras. We all took pictures of each other. Richard Vargas posted many of his photos on his Facebook page
. I used one of them for the banner of this report. Pictured in the banner (among others) are Rich Boucher, Gina Marie Marselle, Hakim Bellamy with his son Kalem, Tracey Pontani, Zachary Kluckman, Richard Vargas, Marilyn Stablien, Daniel Schwartz, Gary Wilkes, Margaret Randall, The DitchRider, Merimee Moffitt, Gregory Randall, and Elaine Schwartz.
Many could not make it. Here's hoping to see them next time!
The photos along the sides were taken by Margaret Randall. Click on them if you wish a larger picture.
It was a pretty special evening. In many ways writing poetry is an isolating experience. The potluck was a way to overcome this.
One other thing...all of us who are associated with The Sunday Poem would like to express our appreciation to the Duke City Fix and to our readers. Your support is what makes this possible. Thanks!
